St. Nicholas House School Education

Our Kindergarten provides an exciting learning environment where children are given a solid foundation for their further school life.

At four years of age, pupils enter the Main School where the foundation laid in Kindergarten is developed further in a more structured learning environment. Small classes ensure pupils receive maximum attention enabling them to develop their reading, writing and numeracy skills whilst still enjoying investigative play and creative activities such as drama, art and games.

As pupils progress through the Preparatory School they are encouraged to develop their level of independence and organisational skills. Through a balanced curriculum based upon traditional and contemporary teaching methods pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential. This is achieved by a challenging curriculum and a varied time-table of extra-curricular activities. Full preparation is provided for the transition to secondary education - both independent and state.

St. Nicholas House has a strong tradition of music, drama and dance. Concerts are held regularly throughout the year. Individual tuition in a variety of instruments including piano, guitar, violin and flute is available. Children can also take part in dance lessons in modern, tap and ballet. Throughout the year pupils benefit from specialist sports coaching in football, hockey, netball, cricket and swimming, as well as weekly P.E. lessons.
